Flying, Geocaching or Both?

Today turned out to be a fun filled day beginning with flying the ultralight this morning and geocaching with the family this afternoon. Along with flying this morning, I was having some good geocaching discussions with the owner of the Ultralight Aircraft of Iowa business (the place I fly ultralights at).

The geocaching discussions began a week or so ago when Jim Hill, the owner of Ultralight Aircraft of Iowa, and I began working on setting up the first fly-in caches with the first one being hidden near his business! If all goes well, there will be some caches hidden with access only from small aircraft, IE – hay fields, grass strips, etc. Make sure to check out the geocaching site to see how Jim progresses with the fly-in geocaches.

After talking about geocaches, we went up flying and shot some pictures of a new single seater Quicksilver Ultralight that Jim and Ann (Ann works with Jim custom building Quicksilver Ultralights) have just finished working on. I have included some in flight pictures of the Ultralight below.

The geocaching adventures for the afternoon took my family and me to pictured rocks area near Monticello Iowa. Found the cache, had a nice climb up to the cache and an interesting trip down. There are pictures posted  here if you want to see the fun. If you have a GPS and have never tried geocaching, you MUST give it a try.
