Another night in Ida Grove

July 24 7:00 pm – another night in Ida Grove. Bouncy and very windy gusting to 30 mph. We stayed in the hotel across from the airport. We asked the woman at the hotel to see if she knew of a way for us to get into a hangar at the airport since it was supposed to rain. She got us a hangar!

We hangered the plane in a hangar that looked like a castle. The president of the company that owned the hangar shows up and and lets us in. The hanger was incredible! It was air conditioned, finished like a house and had a full map on the floor of the route of the mutiny of the Bounty. Picture attached. More updates to come.

Re-fueling in Ida Grove

7:10 pm – We landed in Ida Grove. Stopped at the house at the airport and asked for the airport manager to see if we could get a ride into Ida Grove. The person who came to the door stated he was not the manager, however he lived there. He then asked us if we wanted a ride in to town, we said sure! He went in his house brought out keys to his nice extended cab 2005 GMC truck and told us to take it in to town! I could not believe it!

I love living in Iowa!

UPDATE – 10:48 pm

Heading to bed, a lot of flying to do tomorrow!!

Just Landed In Rockwell City Iowa

3:25 PM – We are working our way West. Just landed in Rockwell City Iowa. Nice little airport bordered by cornfields on three sides and Rockwell on the other. The weather is incredible in Iowa this time of year. Warm with a gentle breeze, just pleasant.

Touring Iowa in Ultralight and Light Sport Aircraft is a unique way to experience Iowa. I would recommend it to everyone.

Getting ready to get back in the air soon to keep heading West. Keep checking back!
